zentyal-desktop 0.4 does not work on Ubuntu 10.04.1

Description
Both Zentyal 2.0.15 server & Ubuntu desktop 10.04.1 o/s fully up to date and no tweaking to Ubuntu & mnimal tweaking to Zentyal (e.g. DHCP service). I setup a test user on Zentyal using Users page (I don't use Ubuntu to create this user as I assume that this will be done automatically by scripts which are part of zentyal-desktop: the documentation implies this). Able to download zentyal-desktop 0.4 package on Ubuntu using administrative user (local to Ubuntu) through Zentyal after adding ppa from https://launchpad.net/~zentyal/+archive/desktop as dhcp release correctly granted to Ubuntu. It installs a number of packages. As per instructions on http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/Documentation/ZentyalDesktop/Ubuntu I ignore questions on ldap and answer appropriately to 'Zentyal Server Address' on 'Configuring zentyal desktop'. I don't bother about Roaming Profiles as my test system is just one client (i.e. a Ubuntu machine running in Virtualbox as a VM with another VM being Zentyal). I click on 'Other..' on Ubuntu's user selection window for logging in and key in login & password as previously defined to Zentyal, and Ubuntu returns to user selection window without logging in or creating home directory for this new user. I've tried various fixes suggested in the forums which involve downloading & installing .other packages to Ubuntu. It seems to me that zentyal-desktop package has some bugs and/or there are critical mistakes/ missonf instruction on the instructions web page. To me this looks like high priority to correct as an almost essential part of Zentyal is ldap with login from Ubuntuy 10.04.1. Do you agree?

Replying to John Rose <john.aaron.rose@…>: Correction: version of zentyal-desktop package is 0.4-1. Is there a recommnded (i.e. stable) version of zentyal-desktop which works for ldap using Ubuntu 10.04.1? If so, where can it be downloaded from?

According to your log there is a problem connecting your LDAP server:
Jan 24 09:27:12 UbuntuDesktop? su[1900]: pam_ldap: ldap_simple_bind Can't contact LDAP server
I don't think this is a bug in zentyal-desktop, are you sure you have properly followed all the steps on the documentation?
