Gateway

Reported by: linuxgurumaniac@… Owned by: jamor@…
Milestone: Component: network
Severity: major Keywords:
Cc: linuxgurumaniac@…

Description

I wanted to use the box as an internal firewall, so of course it had two ethernet, one for the lan and the other to take internet from my primary firewall/Router. I was able to ping the router from Zentyal but Zentyal refused to add the router as a gateway saying "Gateway unreachable". After some checking I really didn't know what wrong with it, so i had to enable the dhcp server from my router and give zentyal an ip.

Hello,

the 'Gateway reacheable' test is done checking wether the gateway is i the same 'network that your interface addresses.

In case your gateway is reachable by ping but its address is not in the same network of any of your static interfaces, Zentya lwe refuse to add it. Please, check whether this is your case or not.

hello,

In my case Zentyal have two interface, eth1 is lan and eth0 acting as gateway. eth0 is in the same network as the router. the router is pingable from zentyal and vice versa but zentyal is refusing to act as a gateway by submitting the message 'Gateway reacheable'.

I have the same problem with Zentyal 3. eth2 is set to DHCP and has picked up an IP from the router, I can ping the router from the server but Zentyal gives me the Gateway unreachable message when trying to add it as a gateway.

Before I reinstalled Zentyal (another story) this worked fine...

Any ideas?

Regards

Andrew

Sorry, I forgot to add the requested information:

Address of router: 10.2.8.1 Address of eth2: 10.2.8.2

Both devices are directly connected by ethernet cable, there are no hubs or switches in-between.

Hello,

if you call manual dhclient, do you get an address?. The command is 'sudo dhclient eth2'.

After doing the test remember to kill the dhcleint process 'sudo pkill dhclient' to avoid further mudding of the waters
