I have tried to reproduce your problem without success. So I need you answer some questions in order to progress with this problem.

You can paste here exactly whatever you typed in the description field?

If you try to make a backup without typing anything in the description you get the error or you succeed?.

I have been able to make backups with strange characters in the description without problem. Please reopen if you can provide more information to reproduce this, as requested by Javier. Thanks.
