setting eth0 to 'bridged, br0'

Originally set this manually on the bare 12.04 install prior to zentyal install by apt-get.

Today updated packages and lost network setting so was setting networks in zentyal interface. eth0 setting now appears to be persistent, but subsequent LDAP issue now filling up log. Unexpected error found under Office-LDAP Settings.

Hello Btibuzz,

2.3 is beta and we try oru best but cannot guaranteed that upgrades would always be flawless.

In this case you have the option of reinstalling the ldap modules with this command:

sudo /usar/share/zentyal-users/reinstall

or if you want to be in the safer side try the new 2.3 installer ->  http://lists.zentyal.org/pipermail/zentyal-announce/2012-March/000029.html

surely you have remarked at one point "Hey wouldn't it be nice and happy to be able to export the ldap data into a none ldap format, so migrations can occur with sunshine, cups of tea and lots of smiles?"

I also experienced this issue upon upgrading. While I do understand that this is alpha software, an issue such as this makes one hesitant to continue the use and testing of alpha software in an effort to aid in the debugging process to assist in bringing the highest quality product in whatever way we may be able.

If the upgrade process is going to have this type of risk, and this will be marked as wontfix, then it only makes sense to provide a means to backup the entire Zentyal configuration. This would of course include any LDAP, SQL, or config files. This could easily be thrown into a tarball and used to rebuild after such an incident. Even if the means for importing a configuration wasn't present, it's still preferable to manually rebuild tables, directories, and files than to lose sections of a configuration and have to manually rebuild that configuration.

Hello all,

yes, the user reinstall will wipe all LDAP data, including users.

In Beta things will be broke, from time to time. We just cannot bear the workload of making migration script between beta version. Normally where is a big change we will issue a new installer.

The LDAP data is saved in the configuration backups, in LDIF formats. However restore backups are also not guaranteed to work between beta version, but is worth a try. Also just can try to recover using the LDIF files directly but this will be more complicated.
