Antivirus is 'Stopped' after installing and enabling the module.

Using the last packages available in the 2.2 branch, the Antivirus module often appears as 'Stopped' after enabling it. Starting it from the interface works sometimes, other times you need to run it manually.

It seems related to the AV signatures.

Of course, other modules dependant on AV (proxy, filesharing, mailfilter) stop working as well.

The reporter says that the execution of 'sudo freshclam' fixes it.

He assures that it affects 1/3 of their machines and that he have checked connection to Internet before installing

boot.log seems to contain the solution:

• Clamav signatures not found in /var/lib/clamav

• Please retrieve them using freshclam or install the clamav-data package

I have installed clamav-data and then it runs normally, maybe just adding a dependency would fix this?

We will release a new zentyal-antivirus with the dependency. Please, note that this not affect precise or lucid with lcuid-updates repositories.
