File sharing with Windows - special characters produce blank file names
|Reported by:||seanwalter@…||Owned by:||scabrero@…|
Running the latest zentyal 2.3 components on Ubuntu 12.04 I am seeing that file sharing doesn't pass file names with special characters to Windows 7. These files appear but have blank file names and cannot be opened. In the case of file folders, they have blank file names and point to a parent directory rather than the actual directory they represent.
I have tried modifying smb.conf.mas with a few different charset options, but cannot seem to correct this.
At the server, these file names are recognized but the special characters are blanked out. If I rename one of these files or folders with all ascii characters, then I can see the file name in Windows.
I have tried changing my smb.conf.mas to reference different charsets, including each of the following individually or in relevant combinations. At each change I have restarted file sharing through the zentyal web gui:
dos charset = 852 (or 850, or leave this unset) unix charset = UTF8 (or leave this unset) display charset = UTF8 (or leave this unset)
I don't recall having to make any corrections for this with the last release version of Zentyal under Ubuntu 10.04.
